* Eğer cümle olumlu ise "the question tag" kısmı olumsuz olur.

œ Examples:
» He is a teacher, isn’t he?
» You will go shopping today, won’t you?

* Eğer cümle olumsuz ise "the question tag" kısmı olumlu olur.

œ Examples:
» Jenny isn’t coming to the party tonight, is she?

» They won’t join the conference tomorrow, will they?
* Cümlede kullanılan özne ile "the question tag" kısmında kullanılan özne uyumludur.

œ Examples:
» We can go on a picnic this week, can’t we?
» He didn't make a hotel reservation yesterday, did he?

Cümlede kullanılan yardımcı fiil ile "the question tag" kısmında kullanılan yardımcı fiil uyumludur.

» They will visit their grandparents this week, won’t they?

» We don’t eat fast food, do we?
» She has taken a vacation for a few days, hasn’t she?
» He wasn’t sleeping when I came home, was he?

Eğer cümlede yardımcı fiil yoksa "the question tag" kısmını oluştururken kullanılacak yardımcı
fiil için cümlenin zamanını esas alırız. (Zarf fiiller cümlelerin yardımcı fiillerini anlamak için belir-
leyicidir.)

œ Examples:
» I booked a room at a five star hotel last Friday, didn't I? (The Simple Past Tense)
» You play tennis at weekends, don’t you? (The Simple Present Tense)

* “I’m” ile başlayan cümlelerde "the question tag" kısmını “aren’t I?” olarak sorarız.

œ Examples:
» I’m the most hardworking student in the class, aren’t I?

» I’m next in the queue, aren’t I?
