* Yapılan şeyin sebebini açıklarken "because (çünkü)" bağlacını kullanırız. Bu bağlaçtan sonra tam
bir cümle gelir ve eylemin hangi gerekçe ile yapıldığını açıklar.

œ Examples:

y I will go to the stadium today because I want to watch my team's match. (Bugün stadyuma
gideceğim çünkü takımımın maçını seyretmek istiyorum.)

y We don’t want to go to the zoo because we don’t want to see animals in cages. (Hayvanat
bahçesine gitmeyi istemiyoruz çünkü hayvanları kafeste görmek istemiyoruz.)

y I went to the theater yesterday afternoon because I wanted to see the latest play of my
favourite actor. (Dün öğleden sonra en sevdiğim erkek oyuncunun oyununu seyretmek için

tiyatroya gittim.)

* Bir işin yapılış amacını açıklarken kullandığımız ifadelerden birisi de “to” yapısıdır. Cümleye
“-mek / -mak için” anlamını katar. Amaç bildiren fiili ana cümleye bağlar. “to” yapısından
sonra fiil yalın hâlde kullanılır.

œ Examples:

y You can go to the shopping mall to buy anything you want. (İstediğin bir şeyleri satın almak
için alışveriş merkezine gidebilirsin.)

y Jenny went to the bookshop to buy a dictionary yesterday. (Jenny dün sözlük almak için
kitapçı dükkânına gitti.)
y Mr. Brown went to the police station to report the burglary. (Bay Brown hırsızlık olayını bil-
dirmek için polis merkezine gitti.)
