Hello, my name is Margaret. I was a young girl in the 1940s. In those years, life was quite
different from now. It wasn’t as easy as now. We didn’t have a washing machine. I was
the oldest child in my family and I had to wash the clothes. It was really a hard work and I
had the washing day. Also, there weren’t any movie theaters. We used to watch the shadow
plays. They were really fun. However, we didn’t use to have personal computers and the
Internet. We didn't use to have smartphones, too. During long winter nights, we used to
gather around our grandma and she used to tell us funny stories because we even didn't use
to have a television at our house. We used to listen to her with great enthusiasm. We used
to live in a small town. There weren’t any traffic jam. The life was hard in those years, but
I really miss those years.
