Islam is Eid al-Adha. It is also known as
the “Festival of Sacrifice”. Eid al-Adha
commemorates the story of the Prophet
Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his
son for God. Muslims around the world
celebrate Eid al-Adha by slaughtering an
animal such as a sheep or a goat. The
meat is then shared among family, friends,
and the poor. It is common to carve the
meat into small pieces before it is cooked.
The meat is usually boiled or grilled, and
served with rice and vegetables. During Eid
al-Adha, it is also common to hand out
          gifts and sweets to children.
