THE BRAVE BOY OF ANATOLIA
Ali is a twelve - year - old boy. He lives in a small village in Anatolia
during the Turkish Independence War. His father is a soldier in the
army, and his mother works hard in the fields. Ali helps his mother
every day. He collects firewood, carries water from the well, and takes
care of the animals.
One day, Turkish soldiers come to Ali’s village. They need food,
clothes, and people to help them. Ali listens to the commander speak.
He feels proud and excited. He thinks, “I am small, but I can help my
country!” He goes to the commander and says, “I want to help! Please
give me a job!”
